Know Your Foe: Texas Tech Baseball Players to Watch

Key players from the Red Raiders you will need to know when they take on the TCU Horned Frogs this weekend.

TheTCU Horned Frogs take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders on April 12-14. Here are some key Texas Tech baseball players that TCU fans should know before the series.

Likely Pitching Rotation:

Friday- #42 Kyle Robinson

Junior Right-handed pitcher from Vienna, Virginia

The 6'6" right-handed senior pitcher has been decent this season. Robinson provides a decent amount of solid innings but has given up quite a few hits this season. When he has been great this season, he has limited walks and hits. He has maintained a 4.10 ERA, which is not terrible, especially at this point in the season. However, Texas Tech just needs him to go long against TCU so they can minimize having to turn to their bullpen.

Saturday- #48 Mac Heuer

Freshman Right-handed pitcher from Greensboro, Georgia

The 6'5" right-hander has had a solid freshman campaign this season. Heuer holds a 5.03 ERA with 36 strikeouts and twelve walks over 34 innings pitched. He gives the Red Raiders a decent amount of solid innings. However, the most he has gone this season is 6 innings. If he can give them five solid innings, it makes things a lot tougher for TCU, because this Texas Tech offense is really good. The Horned Frogs will look to get to him early, so he doesn't have time to settle in and go long in this game.

Sunday- #56 Jack Washburn

Redshirt Junior Right-handed pitcher from Webster, Wisconsin

Washburn hasn't been necessarily bad for the Red Raiders, but he has struggled to go above four innings. However, the 6'2" Redshirt Junior will likely get the nod on Sunday for Texas Tech. They will ask him to give them at least four solid innings in this matchup. He is coming off of a start where he only lasted just an inning and gave up two runs on three hits. He does have the ability to give this team four decent innings, but it depends on how he settles into the game He has maintained a 6.91 ERA. The Frogs must capitalize on him early and score runs so they have to turn to their bullpen. If they can do this, they will be in good shape for this matchup.
