TCU Baseball: Horned Frogs Even Up The Series with San Diego

A strong start from Kole Klecker and a home run from Brayden Taylor fuels a 3-1 victory.

It was a strong bounce back game for TCU after suffering a 14-2 beatdown from San Diego the night prior. TCU improves to 8-6 with the 3-1 win while the Toreros drop to 6-7-1.

The Horned Frogs started off strong thanks to a solo shot to left field from Brayden Taylor. This was Taylor's third home run on the season. In the third inning, Elijah Nunez singled through the right side to bring home Luke Boyers to make it a 2-0 TCU advantage.

San Diego didn't record a hit until the sixth inning. Freshman Kole Klecker was dialed in. He went seven innings surrendering two hits on one run. He struck out two batters and gave up one walk. It was another impressive outing for Klecker who has proved all season long that he can throws strikes early and often and draw weak contact.

Kevin Sim homered off Klecker to make it a 2-1 game in the seventh. Tre Richardson added some insurance by recording a RBI single. Richardson had a great game going 3-4. He also added a stolen base. The Horned Frogs recorded eight hits total this game.

Louis Rodriguez recorded a six out save striking out four San Diego hitters. It was his first career save. The pitching has struggled this season for TCU so to see a strong pitching performance is an encouraging sign.

TCU will look to steal the series tomorrow against San Diego at 2 p.m.
