TCU Baseball Pulls off Another Comeback and Defeats Arizona State

Lupton Magic has made its way over to Globe Life Field as the Horned Frogs win it in the late innings and maintain their undefeated record.

In typical fashion this season, TCU had to find a way to comeback and deliver some late game heroics against Arizona State on Saturday. A six-run eighth inning propelled the Frogs (11-0) to a 11-9 victory over the Sun Devils (5-5).

It was smooth sailing for TCU as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Scoreless through three, Chase Brunson reached on a fielder's choice scoring Karson Bowen which opened up the scoring. The next batter Ryder Robinson would walk in the second run.

Things opened up in the fifth when Jack Baseer laced a two-RBI single and Bowen hit a sac fly. Despite what the final score may suggest, it was a strong start from Kole Klecker. The sophomore went six innings allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts.

It was the bullpen that faltered as a six-run seventh inning gave ASU the lead. Ryan Campos delivered the go-ahead hit with a double to make it 6-5. TCU would not go down without a fight as they rallied in the eighth inning.

Robinson singled down the left field line to cut the lead to one. The Friday hero Sam Myers came through once again with a sac fly to tie it. Next batter Kurtis Byrne crushed a triple to left field to give TCU the lead. Byrne had a monster game going 3-5 with two RBIs.

Louis Rodriguez gave up a couple runs in the bottom of the ninth but shut the door on a potential ASU comeback. This is now the fifth come-from-behind win of the season. The 11-0 record also matches the best start to a season since 1985.

The Horned Frogs will conclude the weekend with a rematch against USC at 3 p.m. Zack Morris will get the start against the Trojans.
