With a team like Oklahoma State coming to town for a three-game series here in Fort Worth, it was vital for TCU to get some kind of jumpstart. Fortunately for TCU, that's exactly what they got when Anthony Silva stepped on the field this weekend. Silva was named Big 12 Player of the Week after going 6-for-10 at the plate with two home runs.

While TCU has struggled at keeping teams from scoring, one thing that has stayed consistent is the offense, and with a batting lineup like OSU's, the Horned Frogs would have to score like they have been so far this season against tough opponents.

Despite a late-game comeback, TCU still fell short in game one, 7-6 on Thursday. Silvas's role in this game was relatively minor, but the freshmen would have a stellar day at the plate on Friday, going 3-for-3 with two home runs. This performance, aided by Kole Klecker on the mound, led the Horned Frogs to a 7-3 victory on Friday night.

In the rubber match of this series, Silva continued his domination at the plate with two hits and scored twice in TCU's win over Oklahoma State. While Silva was impressive at the plate in a high-intensity series like this one, it's his fielding that really makes him a solid asset in the field for the Horned Frogs. While the freshman has allowed a team-leading six errors this season, his fielding has improved considerably over the last few weeks.

The Big 12 Player of the Week honor was the fifth time this season that a TCU player has received one of the conference's weekly accolades. Others this season include:

  • Pitcher of the Week - Cam Brown - March 6 and March 27
  • Player of the Week - Austin Davis - February 20
  • Freshman of the Week - Louis Rodriguez - March 6

With a series win against Oklahoma State, the Horned Frogs will look to keep their momentum at Abilene Christian University for a midweek game and then at home against UNC Wilmington in a 3-game series starting on April 14.
