Men's Basketball Poll Watching Week 18: Houston Remains On Top
The Houston Cougars (26-3, 13-3 in Big 12), with just two games left in the regular season, find themselves once again at the top spot in this week's AP Top 25 and Coaches Polls.
Thanks to a buzzer-beater basket, Houston defeated Oklahoma on Saturday and remains the No 1 team in the nation in this week's polls.
Marquette (22-7, 13-5 in Big East), dropped out of the Top Five allowing Arizona (23-6, 14-4 Pac-12) to move into the Top Five. UConn, Purdue, and Tennessee are the other teams at the top.
The Kansas Jayhawks (21-8, 9-7), after losing two straight games, fell seven spots in the AP Top 25 and six spots in the Coaches Poll. This allowed Baylor to surpass the Jayhawks as the third-highest ranked team from the Big 12, behind Houston and Iowa State.
The TCU Horned Frogs (19-10, 8-8 in Big 12), despite losing two games last week to ranked opponents, are still receiving votes in the Coaches Poll.
The Big 12 has five ranked teams this week with four others receiving votes in at least one of the polls. The league also has the lowest NET ranking at 45.9. The nearest competition is the Big Ten at 60.1.
