Men's Basketball: TCU Beats Arizona State 79-59

TCU bounced back from the Clemson loss with a 79-59 win over Arizona State. The Frogs leaned on a 53-29 second half to get the win, while shooting 45.6% from the floor to Arizona State's 38.5%. TCU had better rebounds, steals, assists and turnover numbers than the Sun Devils in their dominating win. This is the most impressive victory of the season so far for TCU as they look to improve their resume getting closer to conference play.

Micah Peavy recorded a triple-double for the Frogs, while Emanuel Miller lead TCU with 18 points. Here are all the top performers:

Triple-Double for Micah

Micah Peavy was the star of the night. With a career high in rebounds and assists, Peavy accounted for a triple-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. This was only the third triple-double in TCU program history joining Kenrich Williams in 2017 and Kurt Thomas in 1995. The senior guard was the catalyst for the Frogs the whole night and was nearly perfect doing everything with only one turnover. He also graduated the morning of the game, getting his degree from TCU. It was truly a once in a lifetime day for Micah Peavy.

Sharing The Rock

TCU won the assist battle against Arizona State 24-11. Micah Peavy and Avery Anderson III even combined for 17 of the 24 on their own. This is starting to become a real trend for the Frogs as they are fourth in the nation in assists per game with 20.6. With the transition-style of play the Frogs run, this would be extremely beneficial for the Frogs to keep up this trend. Coming off of just ten assists versus Clemson, this is a great to see and a sign that the offensive efficiency is improving.

No Coles, No Problem

JaKobe Coles had an off-day for the Frogs, scoring just two points on 1-7 shooting, but other players were able to pick him up well. Jameer Nelson Jr., Trey Tennyson, Ernest Udeh Jr. and Essam Mostafa all had efficient nights to make up for the scoring Coles usually provides. Expect Coles to bounce back, but it is nice knowing there are multiple pieces for TCU that can step up if needed.
