Men's Basketball: TCU Takes First Loss of the Season Against No. 24 Clemson 66-74

TCU drops their first game of the year against No. 24 Clemson Saturday 66-74.

TCU lost to No. 24 Clemson Saturday after shooting just 32.2% from the field. The game was played on a neutral site in Toronto, Ontario and was against the toughest team they faced all season. Emanuel Miller led the Frogs in scoring with 16, but they could never really get anything going offensively.

Top Performers:

- Emanuel Miller: 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals

- Micah Peavy: 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals

- Jameer Nelson Jr.: 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals

Shooting Struggles

TCU could not seem to make a shot at all today. They shot just 32.2% from the field, 18.8% from three and 75.8% from the line. JaKobe Coles, Avery Anderson III and Jameer Nelson Jr. all combined for just 18 points on 25% shooting (6-24). They came into the game averaging a combined 37.8 points on the year on very good efficiency. Having this poor of a shooting performance from so many guys makes it tough to win a game.

Can't Stop the Stars

Clemson's two best players are undoubtedly PJ Hall and Joseph Girard III, so it would be vital for the Frogs to contain their production, but that didn't happen. The two players combined for 38 of the Tiger's 74 points on 11 of 24 shooting. Being able to neutralize star power especially once conference play starts will be interesting to see for TCU.

Half Court Woes

TCU depends on transition for so much of their offense, so when they struggled to force turnovers in the second half, their offense severely struggled. The Frogs only had 10 assists and felt stagnant when they couldn't get out and run. It would be nice to see Jamie Dixon's offense to start to find an identity in the half court.

Up Next: TCU will face Arizona State in a semi-home game at Dickies Arena next Saturday, December 16. The game will be at 9 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPNU. This is a huge opportunity for a bounce back so be there if you can.
