Men's Basketball: TCU Lands Transfer Frankie Collins

The new TCU guard led Arizona State in points, assists and steals last season.

Arizona State transfer Frankie Collins has committed to TCU.

The 6-foot-1, 185 pound guard averaged 13.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.6 steals last season, earning Honorable Mention All Pac-12 honors. He will have one year of eligibility left.

The Sacramento, CA native gives the Frogs an elite ball handler and defender, both an area of need for the Frogs. Collins is a true point guard who can score in isolation and force turnovers well to get out in transition quickly.

Collins chose the Horned Frogs over California, Florida, San Diego State, SMU, and a return to Arizona State.

The incoming senior played his freshman season at Michigan before joining the Sun Devils for his sophomore and junior seasons.

Before committing to Michigan, Collins was the number 38 overall recruit in the 2021 ESPN100. He now comes to the Frogs as No. 53 overall and No. 9 ranked defender in the EvanMiya.com transfer portal rankings.

Collins notably played against TCU as the starting Arizona State point guard twice. One came in the Frogs' 72-70 win during 2023 March Madness, and the other came in TCU's 79-59 win last season at Dickies Arena.

Frog fans may remember Collins from his famous March Madness poster over Chuck O'Bannon Jr.

Frankie Collins now joins UCF transfer CJ Walker as players from the portal already committed to TCU for next season.

Expect TCU to still remain active in the portal. They had Green Bay guard Noah Reynolds on a visit Friday and still have two or three scholarship spots available, depending on whether or not Essam Mostafa decides to return.

Look for the Frogs to add another guard or wing, someone who can shoot the ball effectively. Regardless, this is a huge win for TCU and should get Frog fans excited about competing next season.
