After cancelling two games last week, TCU women's basketball will be back in action at Schollmaier Arena on Tuesday against UCF.

The Horned Frogs dropped to 1-6 in Big 12 play but remained 14-4 overall since the forfeits did not count against the overall record. Injuries within the program forced the cancellations, including point guard Jaden Owens' season-ending ACL injury suffered at Houston and season-ending ankle surgery for backup forward DaiJa Turner. Center Sedona Prince has been out since early January with a broken finger.

Prince talked about the unusual situation on TikTok, noting that injuries at practice following the Houston loss contributed to the cancellations.

Open tryouts were held late last week, and TCU volleyball student-athlete Sarah Sylvester was added as a preferred walk-on for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The sophomore led TCU volleyball in blocks per set this season with 1.16 and set the school record for blocks in a three-set match (13).

Sylvester played basketball at Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where she earned All-Catholic High School League honors as a junior and senior. She is the first TCU student-athlete in the Big 12 era to play varsity volleyball and basketball.

Guard Madison Conner is the Horned Frogs leading scorer with 21 points per game on 40.3% shooting. Guards Agnes Emma-Nnopu and Una Jovanovic will likely be relied on more as TCU finds its footing without Prince and Owens. Agnes-Nnopu averages 9.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, while Jovanovic puts up 5.6 points.

Freshman Victoria Flores took over point guard duties when Owens went down. Flores scored four points and dished out two assists in 24 minutes against the Cougars. Guard Sydney Harris, who had been out with an injury until January 6, scored 16 second-half points off the bench, featuring 4-of-5 from three-point range, and grabbed seven rebounds.

Forward Aaliyah Roberson has averaged 8 points and 3.6 rebounds since stepping into the starting lineup for Prince.

UCF (9-7, 0-6) enters the contest on a six-game conference losing streak. The Knights lost three of those games by seven points or less and nearly took out No. 12 Baylor on Saturday.

Guard Kaitlin Peterson paces UCF with 21.1 points per game. She dropped 32 points, nailing 5-of-6 three pointers, and recorded five steals in the 77-74 loss at Baylor. The outing marked the fourth time this season that Peterson has scored 30-plus points in a game, which leads the Big 12.

Center Khyala Ngodu (career-high 15 points) and guard Mya Burns (14 points) broke double-digit scoring versus the Bears, and both snagged seven rebounds. The Knights held the Bears to 21% shooting from three and forced 23 turnovers.
