TCU Women's Basketball Loses at Home to No. 24 West Virginia

A 28-13 third quarter for the Mountaineers was enough to hand the Horned Frogs their fifth straight loss.

It has been a tough stretch of basketball for TCU (15-9, 2-11) as they came up short against No. 24 West Virginia (21-3, 10-3) 77-52. The short-handed Horned Frogs have lost their third straight game against a ranked opponent.

The Mountaineers got off to a quick start, opening up an 11-2 lead, but was quickly answered by a pair of jumpers by Tara Manumaleuga. She had eight points in the first quarter as TCU trailed 15-14 after the first quarter.

The second and third quarters were the turning point in this contest as West Virginia outscored TCU 45-18. A 10-0 run to end the second quarter was a massive blow, and the lead grew to 60-32 heading into the fourth.

Strong defense by West Virginia forced the Horned Frogs into 20 turnovers, and 50 of the 77 points scored by the Mountaineers were in the paint. TCU did outscore their opponent 20-17 in the final frame, but it was too little too late.

Mark Campbell said, "Their press was very disruptive and made our kids uncomfortable. We could not get into any rhythm."

On the positive side, it was a monster game for Agnes Emma-Nnopu. She finished with 18 points on 7-11 shooting to go along with five rebounds and a career night on defense with six blocks and four steals. The six blocks were the most by a D1 guard this season.

Sydney Harris finished with 12 points and a pair of triples. She leads the Big 12 in three-point percentage with 46.7% (21-45).

TCU will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
