WATCH! TCU Fans During the '23 Iron Skillet Game (Feat SMU Fans)
There was a lot of chirping coming from the two fan bases leading up to this game. It's a cross-town rivalry that dates back to 1915. Every football season, TCU and SMU battle for the Iron Skillet. Last year, the rivalry took on a whole new meaning. You see, SMU had just come off one of the best seasons since their Death Penalty. They were climbing their way back, and the nation was taking notice. The Iron Skillet was resting peacefully in Dallas. Then, TCU made a phone call to the (214). A few sleeps later, and SMU's coach, Sonny Dykes, was headed west to Fort Worth.
And just like that, TCU won the skillet back, and much to the Ponies' dismay, it was very Sonny in the Fort! And it just got worse for the Ponies, as they had to sit back and watch the Frogs make history as their former coach took the Frogs all the way to the National Championship! Fast forward to 2023, SMU gets snubbed and left out of the Big 12 expansion, bought their way into the ACC (literally), and just to add salt to the wound, the Skillet stayed in Fort Worth.
