Dear Santa, All I Want For Christmas Is Four Teams From The ACC

With the Holiday season upon us, and the news that the ACC may be falling apart, there is no better time than now for a wish list of teams I would like to see added to the Big 12

The straw has broken the camel's back. After being the first Power 5 team to be left out of the playoffs after going undefeated, Florida State is looking to depart the ACC for greener pastures. While the landing spot is unclear for the Seminoles, we will take Florida State and Clemson out of the options for this exercise, assuming they are a package deal. I promise I have been good this year, so hopefully, Santa can deliver on these new hopefuls.

The Gifts Under the Tree

North Carolina

The Tarheels are the number one option. A big-name brand, a historic basketball program, a solid football program, and while not consistent, they have a great baseball program. The school's geographical location is also close enough that cross-country travel is limited. The Big 12 has established itself as the top basketball conference in the country, and adding the Tarheels will only further strengthen that resume.

Duke

The same premise as adding North Carolina, the basketball program has historically been one of the best in the country. Keeping the Tarheels and Duke together further allows a basketball rivalry to continue to be protected and ensures the Big 12 will never be overtaken as the best basketball conference.

Louisville

Are you starting to see a trend here? Basketball, basketball, basketball. While Louisville has not been the top program they have been in the past, with the school support and fan base they have, it won't be long until they are back at that point. As for football, Jeff Brohm has the coaching ability and talent to make the Cardinals a threat in the new conference, adding to the resume of what will already be a blood bath of a football conference.

North Carolina State

Wolfpack fans are one of the country's most passionate fanbases. If I had left them off this list, I'm afraid they would have been upset with me - and for good reason, too. NC State has built a solid program in every sport, perennially ranked in football, a baseball program that continues to threaten regional play, and the willingness to spend money to grow with the schools around them.

The stocking stuffers

Pitt

The real intrigue here is the ability to keep the Backyard Brawl year-round as a protected rivalry. This wouldn't be a frowned upon invite, but also not the addition that will get you out of bed Christmas morning.

Virginia

The issue with Virginia is they are a package deal with Virginia Tech, losing the ability to add three other teams that would be viable, as now you are limited to two.

Would any of these teams be willing to move to the Big 12? If there were no other options, I am sure they would. However, we don't know if the Big 12 will take in more teams. Brett Yormark has been in talks with teams in the ACC in case the conference does fall through, but to what extent is the question? Will Santa deliver on my list, or will he leave me nothing but coal and appreciation for what I already have?
