Beach Volleyball: No. 4 TCU Opens Season Undefeated Out Of Third Coast College Classic

No. 4 TCU starts the season 4-0 after wins against No. 15 Washington, Central Arkansas, No. 6 LSU and Houston Christian in the Third Coast College Classic.

The No. 4 TCU beach volleyball team is off to a hot start this year.

After coming off an extremely successful season last year, the Horned Frogs have a lot of hype coming into this year.

Anhelina Khmil was voted 2024 CUSA Preseason Player of the Year, and Hailey Hamlett was a part of CUSA's Preseason All-Conference Team. They lead a stacked roster hoping to build success on last year.

TCU began their season in the Third Coast College Classic in Houston, Texas playing No. 15 Washington, Central Arkansas, No. 6 LSU, and Houston Christian (HCU) over the course of two days.

They did not disappoint, winning all four matches.

Three players delivered perfect 4-0 weekends:

"Going back to Fort Worth with four wins, and two of them versus ranked teams, is always positive," Head Coach Hector Gutierrez said. "It gives us that confidence that the team is ready to battle."

Beat No. 15 Washington 4-1

The Frogs won a ranked matchup in their first-ever match against Washington in program history. Alex Parkhurst and Anete Namike were the only pair to drop a set in this one.

Beat Central Arkansas 5-0

TCU secured their first sweep of the season and moved to 6-0 against Central Arkansas all-time. Parkhurst and Namike secured their first-ever win as a duo, while Kaitlyn Bradley got her first-ever win as a Horned Frog.

Saturday, February 24

Beat No. 6 LSU 3-2

The Horned Frogs move to 7-9 against the Tigers all-time in their first top-10 win of the season. Alex Parkhurst/Anete Namike and Sutton MacTavish/Tara Patton were the only duos to lose their sets.

Beat HCU 5-0

TCU moves to 13-0 all-time against Houston Christian, with eight of those wins being sweeps. Ana Vergara/Morgan Williams, Sutton MacTavish/Alex Parkhurst, and Anete Namike/Tara Patton all secured their first wins as pairings together.

An extremely successful start for TCU puts them in the conversation for one of the best teams in nation. This team is exciting and should be paid close attention to by Frog fans. Buckle up.

Up Next: The Horned Frogs will travel to Stanford, Cali. for the Battle of the Bay hosted by No. 7 Stanford. They will start play against the Stanford Cardinal on Friday, March 1 at 4:00 p.m. CT. Other teams in the event include UC Davis, Oregon, and Saint Mary's.
