The TCU Equestrian team began the 2023-24 season on a high horse with a definitive win at home over No. 1 SMU, the defending national champions. TCU won the meet 12-6.

The win was enough to bump the Frogs up to the top spot in the most recent National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Dual Discipline Team Rankings. It marks only the second time that the TCU program has been ranked No. 1. The last time TCU was ranked No. 1 was not quite a year ago - October 4, 2022.

Last week, TCU was No. 3 in the NCEA preseason poll. TCU is one of three teams from the Big 12 in the Top Ten this week, with Oklahoma State at No. 5 and Baylor at No. 7.

"This is an honor for a hardworking and deserving team," said director of equestrian Haley Schoolfield. "That being said, this is the beginning of our long journey through the season. We will continue to keep our eyes on our next opponent and work on daily improvements."
