TCU men's tennis player Duncan Chan celebrates winning his singles match in a third-set tiebreaker. His win clinched the dual for TCU against Baylor on Sunday, March 10.

Chan and his doubles partner Lui Maxted won their set 6-1, moments after teammates Sebastian Gorzny and Pedro Vives won their set. Then Chan clinched the dual after winning a third-set tiebreaker in his singles match.

Chan was facing Baylor’s Marko Miladinovic on Court Six. Chan won the first set 6-3 but then lost the second set 4-6. In the third set, Chan was down 3-5. He faced a match point before he broke Miladinovic and then won three straight games to send the match to the decisive tiebreaker. He would gain a double break in the tiebreaker and win it 7-4. Winning his match clinched the dual for the Horned Frogs.

TCU played the dual without three-time All-American Jake Fearnley.

TCU improved to 11-1 with the win, while Baylor dropped to 14-4.

The Horned Frogs have claimed four straight matches and five of their last seven vs. the Bears. TCU improved to 40-26 all-time and 20-10 at home opposite its Interstate-35 rival.

TCU has won eight of its last nine matches, all of which have been against opponents featured in the Top 25 of the ITA team rankings.

  • Maxted, playing on Court Four, also won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, putting the Frogs comfortably up 3-0.
  • Baylor would make the dual competitive with wins on Courts Two and Three. Gorzny, on Court Three, lost 4-6, 4-6. Then Vives lost on Court Two 6-3, 5-7, 1-6. TCU was then up 3-2 with two courts still playing.
