TCU Soccer: Butler Tops TCU 2-1

A late goal from the Bulldogs was enough to beat the Frogs.

No. 25 TCU traveled to Indianapolis, IN to take on the Butler Bulldogs, but came away with no points after a 2-1 loss.

Both even to start the match, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute courtesy of Norah Jacomen. A freshman, Jacomen found the back of the net for the 5th time this season in what has been a tremendous start to her collegiate career.

Just as the half was winding down, TCU continued to attack and finally found a breakthrough in the 42nd minute. Grace Coppinger headed home her first goal of the season, leveling the match at one-a-piece.

Assisted by Bella Diorio, it was an out-swinging corner that Coppinger steered to the far post past a diving Anna Pierce.

Heading into the 2nd half tied 1-1, the Frogs came out of the gates quick and generated threatening attacks. Unable to convert, Butler took advantage late in the match.

A goal in the 70th minute by Leila Lister proved the difference maker against TCU, putting Butler ahead 2-1. It was a dangerous, in-swinging corner from Abigail Isger that created the chance for Lister.

Unfortunately for TCU, they outshot Butler nine to six, but only managed to get three shots on goal.

The Frogs will look to finish their roadtrip on a high note when they travel to Provo, UT to take on BYU on September 14 at 8 p.m.
