TCU Soccer: Frogs Conquer the Country Roads in West Virginia

Frogs remain undefeated in Big 12 after 5-1 victory

Sunday, Eric Bell and the Horned Frogs traveled to Morgantown, WV and dominated the Mountaineers to a 5-1 victory. Coming off the back of a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats on Thursday, TCU built upon the momentum and earned their third consecutive victory.

It was a quick start for the Frogs, who piled on the pressure early. With Camryn Lancaster leading the charge on the counter, she neatly chipped a ball through to Seven Castain, who slotted it past goalkeeper Kayza Massey. Ahead 1-0 in the 8th minute, it wasn’t long until TCU doubled their advantage courtesy of Gracie Brian.

TCU Soccer defeated West Virginia 5-1 on Sunday.

Defending from the front, Lancaster read and intercepted a pass from Maddie Moreau. Surging into the final third, she picked out Brian, who calmly netted her 5th goal of the season. The Frogs went up 2-0 after 22 minutes, forcing the Mountaineers to chase the rest of the match.

When the second half kicked off, the Frogs came out equally alive and excited. After pinballing in the box, the ball found its way to Castain, who tapped in her 2nd goal of the game (5th goal of the season).

The Mountaineers grabbed a goal back in the 67th minute courtesy of Taylor White, but it wasn’t enough, as the Frogs answered back a minute later. In the 68th minute, Lancaster arrowed a right-footed shot past Massey to make it 4-1. Lancaster had quite the day, dishing out two assists and netting her 2nd goal of the season.

As the match was winding down, TCU added another goal in the 85th minute. This time, it was Skyler Heinrich who got in on the action. Bella Diorio did a tremendous job finding the endline and squaring the ball to the feet of Heinrich, who tapped in her first goal of the season.

After Sunday’s 5-1 victory, the Frogs have now won three consecutive matches and remain undefeated in Big 12 Conference play. They currently sit at 2-0-1 following a hard-fought point at BYU and a narrow victory at Cincinnati.

The Frogs will return home and host Kansas State on Thursday, September 28, for the first Big 12 match at home this season.
