TCU Triathlon: Frogs Win First-Ever Race

Make it 22 official sports at TCU. The newest sport, women's triathlon, took the course last weekend for the first-ever race in program history. TCU won the race 55-25 against Drury at the DeGray Lake Triathlon in Caddo Valley, Arkansas.
TCU announced the triathlon program two years ago when it hired Jenny Garrison as its head coach. Many of the student-athletes arrived on campus last year and have been training for the last year for this first opportunity.
"We are very excited for our historic opening weekend of competition in women's triathlon," TCU Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati said before the race.
"From the time she came to TCU nearly two years ago as our head coach, Jenny Garrison has done a phenomenal job in building our program. I am particularly excited for and proud of our women's triathlon student-athletes. Many of them first arrived on campus last fall, preparing for this very moment. It has been special to watch them train over the last year for the opportunity to represent TCU. Sunday will be a special day for our athletics program and our campus as a whole, as well as next weekend with our first home competition," he added.
Maria Coral took first place and dominated the race. The Frogs placed in all five spots on the leaderboard behind Coral. Sara Gimena placed second overall, highlighted by her second-place swim time of 6:20.
