TCU Volleyball Drops Two Consecutive Matches to Iowa State

The Horned Frogs have hit a slump losing six of their last seven matches.

It was a rough weekend for TCU as they dropped both matches at home against Iowa State. The first match was lost in five sets (23-25, 28-26, 25-23, 18-25 and 13-15). The second match was a clean sweep for the Cyclones (14-25, 22-25 and 23-25).

TCU Volleyball lost both matches over the weekend to Iowa State. The Frogs are now 13-12 overall and 6-8 in Big 12 play.

TCU Volleyball lost both matches over the weekend to Iowa State. The Frogs are now 13-12 overall and 6-8 in Big 12 play.

The teams went back and forth late in the first set of match one. The Frogs trailed 21-20, but an attack error and an ace by Audrey Nalls put TCU in the lead. However, Maya Duckworth took the game by the reigns and fired in four consecutive kills to take home the set for the Cyclones.

TCU flipped the switch in set two getting out to a 9-2 lead. Iowa State roared back to a 10-1 lead, and once again, the teams went back and forth. Lily Nicholson assisted Melanie Parra and Nalls to a win in set two. TCU took set three and was looking at a match win, but Iowa State responded well and took the final two to secure the win.

Parra recorded a double-double with 19 kills and ten digs. Jalyn Gibson recorded a career-high 20 digs. It was also a nice game for Audrey Nalls who finished with 17 kills and two aces.

Things did not go well for the Horned Frogs on Saturday. TCU was able to keep things close in sets two and three, but as was the theme all weekend, the Cyclones closed out sets better and secured a sweep.

This is certainly not an ideal stretch for Jason Williams' Horned Frogs. They have not won consecutive matches since October 11th and haven't swept a team since September 28th and 29th against Texas Tech. With the losses, TCU drops to 13-12 and 6-8 in Big 12 play. They are now ninth in the standings.

TCU will hit the road to take on Baylor next Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
