Coming off a successful 2022 campaign, TCU is looking to recapture that glory this year with some familiar faces and new transfers entering the rotation. The Frogs were thrown right into the fire this weekend in Minneapolis with matchups against No. 7 Minnesota and No. 2 Wisconsin

The Frogs got off to a hot start winning the first set 25-20. TCU led 20-19, and a fury of kills led by transfer Melanie Parra and Jalyn Gibson sealed the deal in set one. The Golden Gophers dominated the next two sets, and while TCU was able to grab a lead in the fourth set, Minnesota scored five consecutive points to capture the win.

Gibson recorded her first career double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. Parra also finished with 13 kills, and Riley Buckley finished with 33 assists.

Wisconsin ended the Horned Frogs' season last year, eliminating them in the round of 32. The Badgers had the Frogs' number again, beating them in three sets. TCU was able to tie things up late in the second set, but Wisconsin was just too much to handle.

In the third set, TCU brought it to 21-19, but the Badgers pulled away late. In some historical news, Julia Adams moved into seventh place on the all-time TCU kills list with 1,110. She needs 17 more kills to move into sixth place. Adams mentioned before the season that she was ready to lead this team, and her accomplishments certainly speak for themselves.

Melanie Parra was also named to the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge All-Tournament Team. TCU will continue to roll through their non-conference schedule on Thursday when they take on Coastal Carolina.
