TCU Volleyball Goes Toe to Toe with No. 6 Texas in Defeat

In front of a record crowd, the Horned Frogs took the Longhorns to five sets on a memorable night for TCU volleyball.

It was a historical Wednesday night for TCU athletics as they broke an attendance record for a women's sporting event. 7,412 fans packed Schollmaier Arena to watch this TCU volleyball team take on No. 6 Texas. The Longhorns took the match in five sets (25-14, 22-25, 25-21, 23-25 and 13-15).

TCU got off to a strong start leading 14-7. Audrey Nalls recorded six kills in the opening frame on her way to 24 kills on the night. It was a season-high for the graduate student.

Melanie Parra finished off the set with a kill and 20 kills overall. The Frogs kept that momentum going in the second set leading 13-8, but the Longhorns came storming back to tie it at 13 and never looked back.

The teams went back and forth with the Frogs pulling away late in the third set thanks to Sarah Sylvester. Jalyn Gibson also had a critical kill, and TCU took the set 25-21.

It was a similar theme in sets four and five, but the Longhorns took it this time. TCU brought it within one in the final set

Despite the loss, it was a historical day for TCU volleyball. Head coach Jason Williams has done an incredible job in his second year transforming this program into a winning culture. It wasn't the result TCU wanted, but things are looking in the right direction for this program.

TCU drops to 12-8 and 5-4 in conference. TCU will stay at home and host No. 14 Kansas on Sunday at 2 p.m.
