TCU Volleyball Media Day: Expectations Are High Entering the 2023 Season

Heading into the 2023 season, the excitement is high for TCU volleyball, coming off a season where they exceeded expectations and made it to the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament.

We spoke with head coach Jason Williams, Audrey Nalls, Julia Adams, and Riley Buckley. They all spoke highly about the coaching staff and their eagerness to get back on the court and work every day towards their goals. Buckley said Coach Williams tells them to "be a dragon, not a butterfly," meaning dragons are the storm and decimate everything in their way while butterflies fly away.

There will be four new teams in the Big 12 that the Horned Frogs will have to "decimate." However, the ladies all spoke highly of these new additions and are excited to face the talent and prestige these programs bring. BYU was the school mentioned frequently. Coach Williams said, "BYU is a huge school to add. They have an incredible fanbase. They've been a top 15 volleyball program for a long time."

The loss of Callie Williams is certainly a large void to fill. Her experience and leadership helped pave the way to success for TCU. Julia Adams may be the player to fill that role. Adams said, "I'm trying to lead the team in a way that nothing feels unfamiliar. I want to make sure everyone is comfortable and that we're leading the team in a good direction."

Here is the full interview with Julia Adams:

We're just a couple of weeks from the season starting. The first match will be on August 25th versus. Minnesota.
