Chris Simms Analyzes Jaylen Wright's NFL Draft Stock

Tennessee Volunteers running back Jaylen Wright is weeks away from the 2024 NFL Draft.

Tennessee Volunteers running back Jaylen Wright is weeks away from the 2024 NFL Draft.

Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright has shot up draft boards over the past few weeks and has a consensous day-two status surronding his name. NBC Sports' Chris Simms broke down the running back class and their projections, and he was suprisingly down on Wright and several other top names at the position.

Wright was one of the more interesting names entering the process of the NFL Combine. He had an uber-productive career at the University of Tennessee and decided to forgo his final season of eligibility to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. Wright tallied 2,297 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns during his three-year college career.

He didn't have as much workload put on him as other top running backs going through this process, which is a win for NFL evaluators. Furthermore, he's only 20 years old and will be 21 for the duration of his rookie season. So, you have a productive, young running back from an SEC school, which is already enticing for NFL executives. He's now considered one of the most athletic backs in the class.
