The Tennessee Volunteers are locked into a close contest with the Purdue Boilermakers at the half. What are the takeaways after 20 minutes from Detroit, Michigan?

20 minutes stand between the Tennessee Volunteers and program history. The Vols trail the Purdue Boilermakers by two points after the first half of action from Detroit, Michigan. The Boilermakers bested Tennessee early in the regular season, but the two teams have undergone major transformations since then. Tennessee has come out the gate hungry on both sides of the floor, and they should feel good about their performance after the first half.

Guard Dalton Knecht has been a saving grace for this basketball team since the beginning of the season. He's continued shooting well from the floor in a game where players on both sides struggle to convert. He leads the Vols in scoring and pacing with 18 points on 7/14 shooting.

Tennessee forward Josiah Jordan-James has also been productive against Purdue after a strong performance in the Sweet 16 against Creighton. He's converted several shots from behind the three-point line, lining up with confidence and impressive rhythm. Jordan-James has also been a major asset as a help defender, knocking the ball away from Purdue forward Zach Edey several times.

The Boilermakers are leading the basketball game and did a nice job surviving a red-hot Vols run with around seven minutes left in the first half. Tennessee must keep applying pressure and playing their brand of basketball in order to make their first Final Four in program history.
