5-Star Tennessee Commit David Gabriel-Georges Takes the Internet by Storm Once Again

The Baylor School took on Brentwood Academy in what was a rematch of last season's State Championship game. This means that the Red Raiders got an early test at the beginning of the year. This could be viewed as a litmus test of how the season will go.

There was one player that capitated the eyes of not only the game, but the whole nation. That was David Gabriel-Georges. As many Tennessee Volunteer fans know, Georges is ranked the #2 running back in his class and is currently committed to the Vols.

Gabriel-Georges has often made headlines for not only his on-the-field play, but also his incredible physique and strength. Though he is used to the spotlight, he has yet to capture so much attention as he did with his performance against Brentwood on Thursday night.

A Highlight Reel From the First Snap

It all started from his first run of the game. Georges too the handoff and hit the hole in the defense, then got hit in such a way that he was literally flipping in the air. That alone would be a crazy play, but it is what Gabriel-Georges does next that got the buzz.

Gabriel-Georges somehow has the presence of mind to put his hand down to stabilize himself, like doing a handstand, then land on his feet and keep running without skipping a beat. It is simply a jaw-dropping play that deserves all of the attention it is getting from fans. This, though, was just the sign of things to come.

Balance and Footwork That Even a Ballerina Would Envy

The first run alone was enough to get the nation talking, but he continued to captivate the eyes of the nation with repeated excellent plays. My favorite play of the night, and the one that showed how great he truly is, occurred early in the 4th quarter.

In a game that Baylor had a slight edge up 24 – 20, Georges put the team on his back and took over. 1st & 10 from their own 40-yard line, Gabriel-Georges catches a screen pass on the sideline, then takes off. He once again burst through the hole that the WR created and is now in the second level.

Next, he bounces off two Brentwood defenders and somehow keeps his speed and balance. He then meets another, pushes him back a couple of yards, and loses his helmet. That is the official end of the play, due to the play being dead as soon as the helmet comes off.

But he still breaks that tackle and finally goes down by the next defender. This play was beautiful. His speed, burst, footwork, and balance are incredible. They were on full display all night, but no play showed his potential more than this one.

Not Just Highlights

Gabriel-Georges did not just rely on highlights and produced a fantastic night overall. He finished the game with 172 rushing yards, 78 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns. Simply put, Georges looked like a man against boys, and Brentwood is full of college recruits.
