Edwin Spillman Details Recruitment, Future Plans

Elite inside linebacker Edwin Spillman talked his future plans, the Tennessee Volunteers, and his recruitment with Volunteer Country.

Things have been hectic recently for inside linebacker Edwin Spillman. He's coming off consecutive state championship runs with Lipscomb Academy and is one of the top defensive prospects in the country.

Spillman holds 33 offers and is being recruited by nearly every top program. Volunteer Country recently caught up with him, and Spillman gave insight into the schools standing out to him thus far. According to Spillman, Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia, and Florida State are the primary contenders.

He gave specifics about his relationship with Tennessee. They were one of his first offers, and Spillman has been on campus twice during his junior year, including a Junior Day visit a few weeks ago. The coaching staff has made him feel like a priority for years, which he has noticed.

"Things are great with the Tennessee coaching staff; my relationship with them has definitely grown since my freshman year."

While he has a list of favorites, Spillman is still open to new opportunities. He doesn't have a timetable for a commitment but delved into what he wants and expects from a program recruiting him.

"A place that cares about their players, a place that will make their players great, a place that will make me a great man, and will help me reach my goals."

While recruiting encompasses a large part of his young life, Spillman is still focusing on closing his high school career strong and competing for a third straight state championship with Lipscomb. He plays with current Tennessee corner commit Kaleb Beasley.

Spillman is one of America's most athletic, refined players but still sees room for improvement in his game. He outlined a few areas of focus in his off-season training.

"I am working on speed, explosion, strength, pass rushing, coverage, and the mental part of football also.
