Longhorns Dominate Series Opener, Beat Mountaineers 12-2: Live Game Log
The Texas Longhorns (35-18, 12-9) are back in action on Thursday night as they kick off the final series of the regular season, a three-game conference tilt against the No. 6 West Virginia Mountaineers (39-13, 15-6).
This is a crucial series for both the Longhorns and the Mountaineers, with major postseason implications at stake as well as both teams still in the running for a conference championship.
Winning the conference title will be much easier for West Virginia, who currently sits atop the Big 12 standings. All the Mountaineers have to do is avoid being swept by Texas.
If, and that is a massive if, the Longhorns pull off a sweep that does not guarantee them a Big 12 title. Rather, they would need Oklahoma to take one game from Oklahoma State in its three-game series.
For the Longhorns, it is simple. Win one game at a time and control what you can control, otherwise their small conference title window will slam shut.
