ESPN 'College GameDay' Picks Texas To Win Big 12

The Texas Longhorns have a big year ahead of them as they head to the Southeastern Conference, but ESPN's "College GameDay" made their picks for this season's Big 12 Champion.

The Texas Longhorns have a whirl of expectations heading into their final season in the Big 12 and national pundits are hopping on the train.

ESPN's "College GameDay" hosts discussed who they thought would win the Big 12, and it was a clean sweep across the board in favor of the Longhorns. Desmond Howard included Texas as one of his four projected College Football Playoff teams, losing in the semifinal to Michigan.

"I'm going Hook 'Em," Howard said. "Get to see them early against Alabama. Quinn Ewers cut his mullet off. They say he trimmed down a little bit. He's in his second year with (Steve) Sarkisian. I'm going with the Longhorns to win the Big 12."

Pat McAfee agreed with Howard with his Big 12 pick.

"With everything that they say about Sarkisian, his offense and his culture, it's like with what we saw out of Quinn Ewers if he would have kept going," McAfee said. "I think the Texas Longhorns on their way out are going to take the title."

Rece Davis brought up earlier in the show that with Texas, he believes it's going to be a great game against Alabama, but the kicker in how the Longhorns' season plays out will be their performances against Big 12 thorns-in-their-side TCU, Baylor and Houston.

He, like Howard, McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit, believes Texas will put the ribbon on their Big 12 tenure with a title, but played a little devil's advocate as well.

"That's who I have to pick, too," Davis said. "But, just because we haven't said this name in this show: reigning Big 12 champion Kansas State and a whole lot of people coming back, so they've been mentioned.
