Texas 2025 QB Commit KJ Lacey Gives Prediction For Longhorns' Game vs. Alabama

Texas quarterback commit KJ Lacey is the No. 3 gunslinger in the class of 2025 and would carry on the Longhorns' pedigree of bringing in the top signal-calling recruits if he signs.

Class of 2025 quarterback KJ Lacey is "locked in" with the Texas Longhorns, but still has other suitors trying to flip his commitment.

A little over 10 years ago, former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer brought a taste of the Southeastern Conference to the Big Ten, ending the conference's long-standing "gentlemen's agreement," which is the unwritten rule of stopping actively recruiting a prospect who is committed to another school.

Though the gentlemen's agreement has virtually been erased especially in the era of Name, Image and Likeness, Alabama head coach Nick Saban is doing as any coach would and still pursuing Lacey as if he weren't committed to the Longhorns.

“They’re not gonna stop recruiting me," Lacey told On3. "(Saban) is still going 100 percent in on me and they’re not slowing down at all.”

Lacey said he will be visiting Tuscaloosa, AL. for the Longhorns' game against the Crimson Tide, where he'll be obligated to be on Alabama's sideline. That caveat isn't swaying his prediction for the outcome of the game, though.

"Not a score prediction, but I got Texas on top," Lacey said.

The Longhorns almost knocked off the Crimson Tide last season in the first matchup in the home-and-home meeting.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers left last season's game with an injury but not before throwing for 134 yards on 9-of-12 passing. He and the Longhorns will have a shot at redemption against Alabama at Bryant Denny Stadium Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
