Longhorns Among Nation's Best National Title Odds in 2024

The Texas Longhorns are ranked third best for the 2024 National Championship odds per SI Sportsbook.

Just two weeks after the confetti settled on Michigan's triumph in the National Championship, the focus of the college football world swiftly shifted to the upcoming season.

Looking ahead, SI Sportsbook has the Texas Longhorns with the third-best odds at +700 to win the national title in 2024.

As the Longhorns make their debut in the SEC in 2024, the schedule unfolds as favorably as the team could have hoped.

Texas is poised to hold the advantage in key rivalry matchups against Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Arkansas, particularly with an experienced and steadily improving starter in Quinn Ewers. Despite formidable opponents like Georgia and Michigan on the docket, a 10-2 record appears strong enough to secure a spot in the 12-team playoff.

Not to mention the pipeline of stars coming from Tuscaloosa to Austin through the transfer portal. Providing Ewers with more offensive weapons like Isaiah Bond and Amari Niblack who posted big numbers for the Crimson Tide.

From the numbers, SI Sportsbook believes it's going to be an SEC and Big Ten dominant year.

In the pursuit of the 2024 National Championship and beyond, teams are set to face a more comprehensive challenge, reshaping the postseason landscape. The expansion to 12 teams is anchored in a rankings system that presently spotlights the six highest-ranked conference champions, followed by six at-large teams.

However, recent disruptions in the Pac-12 are expected to prompt modifications to the existing format, with the committee actively working on refining the details.

Amidst the changes, the top four ranked seeds will enjoy a first-round bye, propelling them directly into the quarterfinal round. Notably, the initial round of games will unfold on campus, injecting a fresh dynamic into the playoff structure.

Sarkisian and the Longhorns have a lot to live up to after the 2023 season, with their first year of play in the SEC and putting the pieces together after adding more top talent from the transfer portal.
