In this story:

There were some touch-and-go moments in the season opener for the UCLA Bruins against Coastal Carolina. It ended up as a victory, but the team knew they could play better than they did.

The Bruins won by a score of 27-13, but the game was closer than the score indicated. UCLA pulled away at the end to seal the win. There were plenty of positives to take away from the win, but as they look ahead to their next opponent, silly mistakes will likely cost them.

The Bruins are set to take on the San Diego Aztecs this weekend, and they will give the Bruins some fits. San Diego State has dominated the ground game so far this season, so UCLA knows they need to make sure it's a focus of theirs entering the game.

“200 yards,” the voice repeated, cutting through the air.

Per The OC Register
"It’s likely Norton was referring to San Diego State’s average of 229 rushing yards after its 2-0 start this season. The Bruins’ defense will face the Aztecs’ rushing attack on Saturday afternoon after giving up only 56 rushing yards in their season opener against Coastal Carolina."

Per Haley Sawyer of The OC Register

Head coach Chip Kelly noted that the team would need to be aggressive against the Aztecs; otherwise, they could be burned.

“We had a very, very aggressive defensive line,” UCLA coach Chip Kelly said. “There’s also, ‘Hey, let’s sit back and not get offsides,’ but then you might not get 10 tackles for a loss and four sacks. I think there’s a fine line and the amount of offsides we had was unacceptable, but you’d rather err on our guys being aggressive and attacking than to just sit back.”

Per The OC Register

The Bruins will look to start the year 2-0 and keep things rolling. There is much optimism surrounding the team right now, and nobody wants that to go away.

UCLA has a confidence around them that doesn't seem to go away. They believe that they are one of the better teams in the country, and if they want to keep that belief, they need to be ready this weekend.

“We’ve got the best D-line in the nation, hands down,” Bruins linebacker Kain Medrano said after the game. “We’ve got the best D-line in the country and I think we’ve got one of the best linebacker rooms in the country to play behind them.”

Per The OC Register

Only time will tell if the Bruins can contain the strong running attack of San Diego State. But they believe they have a good plan in place, so now it's time to go out and execute it to perfection.
