Longtime UCLA Beat Writer Reports Chip Kelly's Firing is "Likely"

Here's what Bruins Report Online's Tracy Pierson reportedly is hearing the future of UCLA football

Bruin Report Online (BRO) is one of the go-to sources for countless UCLA athletics fans. They're a part of the 247 Sports network, which many consider a reputable source of college football and college football recruiting news.

BRO's Tracy Pierson is reporting that, according to his sources, the firing of Chip Kelly is now "likely". Pierson stated that the timing of this decision, according to his sources, would be after the cross-town rivalry game versus USC. So, why might these sources now be speaking up?

UCLA football under Chip Kelly has lost as many games as it has won. They have never won a bowl game and never really competed for the Pac-12 title. There have been glimpses of hope, but the full picture has never come together for the Bruins under Kelly.

Pierson's article is pretty heavy. He mentions a plethora of motives that the UCLA administration could cite as cause for dismissal. Amongst those motives that Pierson writes about are lack of cooperation from donors, low attendance at home games in the Rose Bowl, and unhappy players who are apparently poised to hit the transfer portal.

Kelly has been the head coach for UCLA 6 seasons now. He actually signed a contract extension with UCLA earlier this year. That extension would make him the head coach for UCLA for the next four seasons. UCLA owns a conference record of 3-4 and an overall record of 6-4. It's hard to imagine that these final two games of the season would make much of an impact on the administrations decision to either keep or part ways with Kelly. Best case scenario, UCLA finished 5-4 in Pac 12 play, and 8-4 overall. Both would be a step backward from last season when the Bruins finished at 6-3 in conference play and 9-4 overall.
