For the second straight weekend, Patrick Cantlay emerged victorious on the PGA Tour.

This time, his victory also earned him a bigger title than he's ever had before.

Cantlay won the TOUR Championship on Sunday, clinging onto his lead entering the final round by posting a 1-under 69. The win marked Cantlay's second in a row, having won the BMW Championship after six playoff holes on Aug. 29, as he now has six wins on the Tour and three this season alone.

Both the BMW and TOUR were FedEx Cup playoff events, so by coming away with wins at both, he vaulted himself to the top of the leaderboards and won his first-ever FedEx Cup in the process. The payout for winning that title is the highest in golf at $15 million, bringing Cantlay's career payout to just about $40 million since he left UCLA men's golf in 2012.

Cantlay entered day four at the TOUR Championship with a two-stroke lead, but staving off a comeback from the No. 1 player in the world threatened his shot at coming out on top.

Jon Rahm had cut Cantlay's lead to one by the time they walked up to the 18th tee, staring down a decisive par 5. Cantlay went with a 6-iron on his second shot from 218 yards out and plugged it just 12 feet from the hole. When Rahm bounced just over the green on his approach and failed to chip in for eagle, the former Bruin could take it easy and two-putt for the win.

The Long Beach native led wire-to-wire for the entire weekend, shooting a 67, 66, 67 and 69 across the four rounds to finish at 11-under for the tournament and 21-under with the FedEx Cup playoff adjustment.

Cantlay, who won Pac-10 Player of the Year and the Jack Nicklaus Award for national player of the year his freshman season at UCLA in 2010, was able to accept yet another trophy late Sunday afternoon at East Lake Golf Course. It didn't take him the heaps of drama it took to win a week ago, but Cantlay still closed out a tight victory to secure the major hardware.

Later this month, Cantlay will join Team USA for the Ryder Cup for the first time in his career.
