UCLA Women's Basketball: 2 Bruins In Consideration For Wooden Award

The Bruins have 2 players in the top 25.

The UCLA Bruins are #2 in the nation, and that is due in large part to the incredible players that are part of the starting five. Every game, these plays showcase their pure grit and toughness, which is why they have a 14-0 record.

Speaking of the starting five, the Bruins currently have two players who are ranked in the top 25 in the nation. Both of them continue to impress and are on the midseason list to land the coveted John Wooden Award.

The players are star center Lauren Betts and star point guard Kiki Rice. Together, Betts and Rice help to lead a team that has continued to impress college basketball experts.

Betts currently ranked #2 in the nation and #1 in the Pac-12 with her .709 FG%. She also leads the team with 16 PPG and 9 RPG. After transferring from Stanford, Betts has continued to show her dominance on the court.

Rice has also come into her own in her sophomore year, as she currently sits at #3 in the Pac-12 with 6.2 APG. Even more impressive is her .897 FT%, which leads the entire team. That's not to mention her 31 steals, which also leads the team.

Both Rice and Betts are leaders on and off the court, and they have shown their worth many times over. They continue to gel with players like Londynn Jones, Angela Dugalic, and Charisma Osborne to form a championship-caliber team that just won't give up.

We would not be the least bit surprised if one or both of these young players are in the top 3 for the Wooden Award come the end of the season.
