UCLA Women's Basketball: Bruins Blow Out Sun Devils In Tempe

UCLA outrebounded the Sun Devils 52-24.

On a day when your UCLA Bruins emerged as a new No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament, the Blue and Gold stormed into Tempe on Thursday and cooled off the Arizona State Sun Devils by a score of 70-41.

UCLA stays in the top four of the standings with the win and locked up a first-round bye in the conference tournament next week. The Bruins will most likely be the No. 3 seed.

The Bruins used their size and speed against ASU who couldn't compete in those two areas. UCLA out-rebounded the Sun Devils 52-24 and dominated points in the paint 44-16.

Center Lauren Betts led all players with a double-double. She finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Guards Kiki Rice and Londynn Jones finished in double digits with 14 and 11.

The start of the game was back and forth but Betts used the mismatch in the post to get the Bruins going early.

The Bruins outscored the Sun Devils 16-8 in the second quarter and Angela Dugalic made a highlight reel play.

UCLA opened up the game in the third quarter with clutch three-pointers from Jones.

Amanda Muse got on the score sheet with a big block in the final quarter.

UCLA heads south to Tucson for a matchup against the Wildcats on Saturday evening.
