UCLA Women's Basketball: Bruins Star Guard Nominated For Prestigious Award

The Bruins guard has been nominated for the Nancy Lieberman Award.

The UCLA Bruins have jumped back to #2 in the nation after the team took down #3 ranked Colorado. The team's success has been because of the play of their starting five, which includes Lauren Betts, Angela Dugalic, Charisma Osborne, Londynn Jones, and Kiki Rice.

Rice has been one of the best players on the team, scoring double-digit points in 8 of her last 9 games. On top of her scoring capabilities, Rice continues to showcase an elite assist game, securing 5.4 per game on the season.

Because Rice is an all-around great player, she has been nominated for a prestigious award.

Rice has been nominated in the top 10 for players up for the Nancy Lieberman Award.

The Nancy Liberman Award is an annual award given to the top point guard in the women's NCAA Division I basketball. According to the press release, recipients of the award exhibit, "floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills."

Those are all certainly qualities that Rice possesses and continues to demonstrate every game. Rice is up against some stiff competition for the award, which includes Caitlin Clark of Iowa.

Rice will need to continue her high-level play to land the award once the season ends, which we foresee happening.
