In this story:

The UCLA Bruins are currently ranked #2 in the nation, and they boast an undefeated 14-0 record. In each game, the Women of Westwood have shown poise and toughness. Despite not taking the #1 spot overall, there are some AP pollers who believe they should be top-ranked.

There are also the early NCAA brackets that have started to arrive, and the Bruins have rightfully been ranked as the #1 seed. Granted, the tournament is still 2 months away, but the Bruins have just been that good.

So far, the Bruins have beaten #6 UConn, #13 Ohio State, #20 Florida State, and #9 USC. They have nearly fallen to Princeton and Oregon State but still found ways to hang tough and win.

UCLA has beaten some stiff competition and their national rank and early NCAA bracket rank are justified.

The Bruins are set to once again face off against the USC Trojans on January 14, and it should be just as exciting as their first meeting. The Trojans boast having the #2 scorer in the Pac-12 in JuJu Watkins, but the Bruins found a way to match her energy and surpass it.

We imagine the upcoming second matchup will be back and forth, but both team's rivalry is hugely important. There is a ton of media attention on college women's basketball, and it has a lot to do with the Bruins winning ways.

We will see where they rank in the coming weeks, but it looks like they can capture the #1 ranked team in the nation very soon. That would easily make the #1 seed in the NCAA as well.
