USC Basketball: How LeBron James Feels About Bronny Transfer Report

While Weiss could not confirm the rumor, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, father of Bronny, responded to the rampant chatter after the Lakers' 128-111 win over the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night.

"Bronny's his own man and he has some tough decisions to make," LeBron said, via ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "When he's ready to make those decisions, he'll let us all know, but as his family, we'll suppport whatever he does."

If Bronny does decide to enter the transfer portal, it would be a surprising move. While there was belief that Bronny could leave USC to enter the 2024 NBA draft, and even potentially play alongside his father in the NBA next season, it was unexpected that he might the transfer portal. The timing could make sense though. The rumor comes one day after former USC head coach Andy Enfield officially left USC for SMU. On Tuesday, USC commit Trent Perry de-committed following Enfield's departure.
As of right now, nothing is official for Bronny, who recently completed his first season of collegiate basketball for the Trojans. Bronny got a late start to his freshman year after suffering a cardiac arrest during a USC practice over the summer. Once he was ready to play, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game during an average of 19.4 minutes of action.
