USC Football: Trojans Senior Wide Receiver Takes a Swipe at Caleb Williams After Ugly Performance

Not what you want to see from a teammate...

The USC Trojans came into their game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night with an undefeated record and a high-powered offense. They left the field in South Bend with neither of those things, and it was a nightmare of a game for the Trojans.

Star quarterback Caleb Williams wasn't his normal brilliant self, and it hurt the team against Notre Dame. He was held to throwing for only 199 yards and one score. Williams also threw three interceptions in the game as well, putting up his worst performance as a member of the Trojans.

It was a poor game all around for the team, but it seems that one of Williams; wide receivers took a shot against him afterward. Receiver Brenden Rice posted on his social media, and it was an implied shot at Williams.

This is a very bad look from Rice, assuming it was toward Williams, and it could hurt the team chemistry going forward. Rice scored a touchdown in the game but was limited to 18 yards.

It wasn't the game that anyone expected from Williams, but there is no need to take subtle shots at him. He has carried this Trojans team for two seasons, and every player is due one bad game at some point.

Hopefully, this was Rice talking about his own performance rather than Williams. The son of former Hall-of-Famer Jerry Rice doesn't want to get the label of a bad teammate on him this early into his career so we can hope for no more posts like this.

The Trojans will have a chance to make up for this terrible performance as they welcome in the Utah Utes to the LA Coliseum next week.
