USC Sophomore RB Poised for Sneaky Breakout Season

In this story:
Every year, there are breakout players for teams. Sometimes you see it coming, and sometimes players surprise everyone. It's one of the best parts of a new college football season because you finally get to see who steps up to help the team win.
2023 will be a big year for the USC Trojans football team as they have lofty title expectations. They came ever so close to reaching the College Football Playoff last season and now will be looking to finish the job.
One of the candidates to break out for them this year is running back Raleek Brown. Brown was good for the Trojans last season as a freshman, but now he wants to take that next step forward.
“Brown's role was smaller in his freshman year than he hoped for. He had 58 touches for 407 total yards, though he did score six touchdowns. Brown was the No. 3 running back in his class and scored 72 touchdowns as a four-year starter at Mater Dei High School. He also ran a verified 4.47 40-yard dash as a HS freshman.”

Brown can use his speed to his advantage within the system that USC will run. With head coach Lincoln Riley in the mix, the Trojans will be flying up and down the field once again, opening the door for scoring chances.
He has a strong ability to use his elusiveness in the open field, allowing him to create space between himself and the defender. His athleticism will be crucial to his potential breakout season this year.
The only concern for Brown is his size, which could hold him back a little.
“The only concern for Brown is he's on the smaller side, so he might not project as an every-down back. Still, watch for Lincoln Riley to utilize Brown in a variety of ways, including as a pass catcher out of the slot.”

We've seen smaller backs have success in the game before, so Brown is more than capable of producing. USC has been known for its great running backs for quite some time, and maybe Brown could be the next in line.
This will be a storyline to watch as camp opens and the season begins.
