USC Football: Trojans Offer 2025 Defensive Lineman Out of Florida

USC is picking up the pace with the 2025 recruiting class.

Yesterday, Newberry (Newberry, FL) 2025 defensive tackle Jarquez Carter took to X/Twitter to announce he had received a scholarship offer from USC.

Carter is considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports, and within the top 50 defensive lineman in the country in the class of 2025. The 6'2", 280-pound interior defensive lineman finished his junior season with an impressive stat line, accounting for 34 tackles for loss to pair with 8 sacks, and those numbers don't include even postseason.

We've embedded his junior season highlights below:

Carter is also considering offers from Florida State, Duke, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Missouri and Tennessee to name a few. He's been on campus at Florida, FSU, UCF, and Tennessee, but has yet to take a visit to Southern California. Based on the tweet Carter announced his USC offer in, it looks like Trojan defensive line coach Shaun Nua will serve as Carter's main recruiter. Some outlets have reported Michigan and Notre Dame being of high interest to Carter.

USC currently has zero commitments in their 2025 class, but have four commitments in their 2026 class.

Carter, also a basketball player, has extremely impressive mobility and quickness for somebody his size. He can bend and turn the corner when he lines up out on the edge of the defensive line, but is also a stout anchor in the run game as well. His current heigh and size might dictate where he plays at the next level (most likely between the tackles), but there's still time to let Carter gravitate towards the alignment along the defensive line that suites his game -- and his team -- the best.
