Buckey spoke with Vanderbilt on SI about his upcoming visit and his relationship with the Commodores coaching staff.
Opening up on what he hopes to learn on his trip to Nashville, he said, "I'm hoping to learn more about their school in general and its culture," Buckey continued, "There's nothing really specific I'm looking for, just a really good school and to play at a high level."
A native of California, Buckey currently suits up for Liberty High School in Bakersfield. Though his team went just 7-4 in 2024, the Patriots were undefeated in league play and are currently ranked by MaxPreps as the No. 73 team in the state.
The behemoth offensive tackle prospect also shared some insight into his communication with Vanderbilt's coaching staff, saying, "I've talked to [Jeff Nady] pretty often, but both offensive line coaches and [Clark Lea] have reached out multiple times."
Buckey also spoke on which teams have been in contact with him most outside of the Commodores, saying, "I would say some schools that have been in constant contact with me are Oklahoma state, UCLA, Cal and Michigan State."
As it stands now, Vanderbilt currently holds two commitments for the 2026 recruiting class, but with now another player scheduled to visit, Lea and his staff could be in for a big summer.
