Big 12 Pro Day Results: West Virginia's Beanie Bishop Puts on a Show

The Mountaineer corner's draft stock is on the rise.

Consensus All-American cornerback Beanie Bishop was not invited to the Reese's Senior Bowl nor the NFL Combine. But once he got his opportunity to put his talents and skillset on display at the Big 12 Pro Day in front of scouts representing all 32 NFL teams, he showed out.

Bishop had the fastest 40-yard dash time of any player who participated. Not just from West Virginia, not just at his position. Anyone. He ran a 4.39 forty and a 4.15 20-yard shuttle which will go a long way in increasing his draft stock.

Because of his size (5'10", 183 lbs) and primarily playing in zone coverage during his lone year at West Virginia, there's a lot of concern from folks at the next level about how he will adapt when asked to play more man coverage, specifically press man. The one thing that bodes well in Bishop's favor is he has an uncanny knack for playing the ball in flight, irrespective to the type of coverage he's in.

Bishop led the country with 24 passes defended (five more than anyone else) to go along with four interceptions. Currently, Bishop is viewed a late day three pick who could go undrafted.
