SEC Football Power Rankings for Week 10

Three of the best four teams in the SEC had the week off last Saturday, but defending national champion Georgia was in action, taking apart rival Florida in a statement game that comes on the final weekend before the College Football Playoff selectors announce their first top 25 rankings. Where does that leave things in the SEC?
- Georgia, Missouri set to meet head-to-head this week
- Alabama, LSU renew rivalry to help sort out the SEC West
- Rebels look to stay on the winning side against Texas A&M at home
- Let's take a look at the SEC football power rankings for Week 10
14. Vanderbilt
Record: 2-7, 0-5
Where Vanderbilt is now: More of the same from the Commodores in a loss to the Rebels and with no apparent sign that they'll crawl out of the SEC basement this season. Vandy is 124th in rushing production and is 123rd out of 133 FBS teams in total scoring defense.
What's next? vs. Auburn
13. Arkansas
Record: 2-6, 0-5
Where Arkansas is now: Sam Pittman has already axed offensive coordinator Dan Enos after a lousy start in which the unit has completely failed to generate any momentum, but there's a real chance the Razorbacks could finish without a win in SEC play.
What's next? at Florida
12. Mississippi State
Record: 4-4, 1-4
Where Mississippi State is now: Zach Arnett might be questioning his decision to completely abandon the Air Raid offense when looking at how unproductive this attack is. Aside from the ugly win over Arkansas, the Bulldogs are yet to win an SEC game and rank 86th in scoring and 103rd in passing.
What's next? vs. Kentucky
11. South Carolina
Record: 2-6, 1-5
Where South Carolina is now: Only the Commodores rank lower in the SEC East standings than the Gamecocks, who rank just 82nd nationally with 25.4 points per game and is 109th in college football by allowing 31.5 points on average, losing four straight games and five of the last six.
What's next? vs. Jacksonville State
10. Auburn
Record: 4-4, 1-4
Where Auburn is now: Hugh Freeze is just two wins away from being bowl eligible in his debut season, recovering from a four game losing skid to beat MSU. It looks possible with dates against Vandy and New Mexico State, but the passing attack is still woefully under-productive, ranking 119th nationally.
What's next? at Vanderbilt
9. Kentucky
Record: 5-3, 2-3
Where Kentucky is now: This was a 5-0 team before going into Georgia and getting plastered, dropping three straight, including last week's loss to Tennessee, a somewhat close game that saw quarterback Devin Leary play one of his better games. UK's best shot is to finish 2-2 over the last month, which would bring it to 7-5 overall.
What's next? at Mississippi State
8. Florida
Record: 5-3, 3-2
Where Florida is now: Just very average in most statistical categories this year, Billy Napier still has plenty of growing pains to weather before Florida is a force in the SEC again. Coming off a 23-point loss to Georgia, the Gators have a tough stretch to finish, including against three ranked teams. Only this coming week seems like a potential win.
What's next? vs. Arkansas
7. Texas A&M
Record: 5-3, 3-2
Where Texas A&M is now: This just isn't what the Aggies were expecting for Jimbo this season, although it's better than last year's 2-win effort in SEC play. A&M boasts one of college football's best defensive line units, ranking 7th in total defense and 13th against the run. Two of the final four games are against ranked teams and they're both on the road. 7-5 looks like the most likely outcome. Is that enough?
What's next? at Ole Miss
6. Tennessee
Record: 6-2, 3-2
Where Tennessee is now: The bad showing at Florida and the second-half problems at Alabama keep the Vols from being undefeated, though the win at Kentucky in a hostile road environment is an important statement with dates at Missouri and against Georgia upcoming.
What's next? vs. UConn
5. Missouri
Record: 7-1, 3-1
Where Missouri is now: Amazing times for the Tigers, who have one loss on the books and a chance to make the statement of the 2023 college football season if they can pull off the upset at Georgia this week. Brady Cook is hitting 7 in 10 passes for over 9 yards per play while Luther Burden and Theo Wease are one of the nation's top 1-2 receiving duos.
What's next? at Georgia
4. LSU
Record: 6-2, 4-1
Where LSU is now: The two losses should put the kibosh on its playoff hopes, but LSU is still in the SEC West title chase with a landmark game at division-leader Alabama this weekend. Jayden Daniels commands the nation's No. 1 scoring attack and 3rd passing offense, but questionable secondary play could rear its ugly head in the late season phase.
What's next? at Alabama
3. Ole Miss
Record: 7-1, 4-1
Where Ole Miss is now: The loss to Alabama still looms large, but the Rebels are still technically in the race to make it to Atlanta if everything falls into place. They're job is to win, and with how well the defense has played the last few weeks, that's within the realm of possibility. Ole Miss still controls a good deal of its own fate, especially with a date at Georgia in two weeks.
What's next? vs. Texas A&M
2. Alabama
Record: 7-1, 5-0
Where Alabama is now: Coming off the open week, the Crimson Tide heads into a landmark home engagement with first place in the SEC West on the line. Defensively, this team has tightened things up in the front seven while some dynamic quarterback play has so far compensated for protection issues. Will those strengths hold up in the future?
What's next? vs. LSU
1. Georgia
Record: 8-0, 5-0
Where Georgia is now: Once again the Bulldogs are playing some of college football's most suffocating defense and Carson Beck's hold on the offense has been improving with each game. Now the champs head into the toughest stretch of their season, against three ranked SEC teams.
What's next? vs. Missouri
