Charges Dropped Against Georgia Football Transfer RaRa Thomas

Georgia's new wide receiver is in the clear

The charges against Georgia football transfer RaRa Thomas arising from an alleged domestic violence incident have been dismissed amid a deal between prosecutors and Thomas' attorney.

Instead, the wide receiver will go through pre-trial diversion for a misdemeanor-level offense of family-violence battery, according to his lawyer.

As part of the deal with prosecutors, Thomas will have to complete an anger management course and perform community service in addition to paying his court fees.

Thomas has the option of getting the remaining charges taken off his record after one year of good behavior.

What happened

Thomas was originally arrested Jan. 23 and then suspended from the Georgia football team after police responded to a report of an altercation at a dorm on the UGA campus.

Thomas then faced felony false imprisonment and domestic violence charges.

Georgia has not announced any update regarding Thomas' position with the team as of Friday afternoon. The defending national champions begin spring football practice on March 14 and play their G-Day scrimmage on April 15.
