Los Angeles Dodgers' Veteran Slugger Joins Rare All-Time Company with Home Run on Tuesday

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 2 of the NLDS but that didn't stop J.D. Martinez from joining an elite club in baseball history with a home run.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night in Game 2 of the NLDS.

As a result of the loss, the 100-win Dodgers are now just one game away from elimination while the wild-card Diamondbacks are one win away from the NLCS.

Though the Dodgers lost, it wasn't the fault of slugger J.D. Martinez. The veteran went 2-for-3 with a single, a home run and a walk. He scored a run and registered an RBI.

The 36-year-old is hitting .333 through the first six at-bats of this postseason run, and his homer on Monday put him in a rare club in baseball history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

J.D. Martinez is the 7th player with at least 1 postseason HR for 4 franchises, joining:

Reggie Sanders

Russell Martin

Ron Gant

John Olerud

Mike Napoli

Nelson Cruz

Martinez has appeared in the playoffs with the Tigers, Red Sox, Diamondbacks and now LA, who he signed with last offseason. He helped lead the Red Sox to the 2018 World Series - when they beat LA.

An All-Star starter this year, Martinez had a great year in Dodger Blue. He hit .271 with 33 homers and 103 RBI. He posted an OPS of .893 over 432 at-bats.

Lifetime, he's a .287 hitter with 315 homers and 1,002 RBI.

He's also a lifetime .304 hitter in the playoffs.

Game 3 of the NLDS will be played on Wednesday night at Chase Field in Phoenix. Brandon Pfaadt pitches for the D'Backs against veteran Lance Lynn.
