Don't look now, but the Chicago White Sox are relevant again.

Yes, they are just 20-30 but they've won seven of their last 10 and are 5.5 games out of first place thanks to the mediocrity of the American League Central.

And they're about to get stronger, as outfielder Eloy Jimenez is nearing a return from an emergency appendectomy.

The following information comes from the Yahoo! Sports fantasy baseball portal:

Eloy Jiménez (abdomen) is on his way to Triple-A Charlotte to begin a minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters on Tuesday that the 26-year-old slugger will play there for 3-or-4 days before being re-evaluated to see if he's ready to be activated. It sounds like fantasy managers may get him back for next week.

Jimenez is off to a productive start for the White Sox, hitting .258 with four home runs and 15 RBI. He has an OPS of .744, so his return would be a welcome boon to a team that really struggled out of the gate.

For his career, he's a .274 hitter with 75 home runs and 226 RBI. He also represented the Dominican Republic in this year's World Baseball Classic.

The White Sox are taking on the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET as Cal Quantrill pitches for Cleveland and Michael Kopech goes for Chicago.

The Guardians enter the game at 21-27 and in third place in the division. The Minnesota Twins (25-24) are the only team over .500.
