The Colorado Rockies continue to get bad news when it comes to the starting rotation.

The team already lost top pitcher German Marquez to Tommy John surgery and now has lost Antonio Senzatela for an extended period of time.

Senzatela has been shut down with an elbow sprain and will not throw for at least three weeks. MLBTradeRumors wonders if he'll be sent to the 60-day injured list given the time necessary to ramp back up.

The positive is at least that Senzatela will avoid surgery.

He's only thrown 7.2 innings this season as he was delayed in getting going; he was recovering from a torn ACL suffered last season.

For his career, he's 39-43 in 145 career games. He's got a lifetime 4.87 ERA. He debuted in 2017 and has spent his entire career in Colorado. He's won double-digit games twice in his career (10 in 2017 and 11 in 2019) so his production will certainly be a loss for a Rockies team that is in last place in the National League West.

The Rockies entered play on Friday at 16-22 and seven games back of the first-place Dodgers.

NATIONAL LEAGUE WEST STANDINGS:

1) Los Angeles Dodgers, 23-15

2) Arizona Diamondbacks, 20-18

3) San Diego Padres, 19-19

4) San Francisco Giants, 17-20

5) Rockies, 16-22

The Rockies are playing better of late, having won eight of their last 10.

They are playing host to the Philadelphia Phillies tonight. First pitch is 8:40 from Coors Field. Philly enters play at 18-19.
