Former Kansas City Royals' Top Prospect to Make Appearance in Arizona Fall League

Former Kansas City Royals top prospect Daniel Lynch is making an appearance on Thursday in the Arizona Fall League.

Per Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com:

Lynch was the No. 3 prospect in the organization entering the 2021 season and debuted that year. He has excellent stuff, which is part of the reason for his great prospect pedigree, but he just hasn't been able to put it all together yet at the major league level. He went 4-6 in 2021, posting a 5.69 ERA in 68.0 innings.

In 2022, he went 4-13 with a 5.13, making 27 starts and throwing 131.2 innings. Finally, this past season, he battled injury, going just 3-4 in nine starts (4.64 ERA).

Still just 26 years old (he'll be 27 next season), he has ample chance to become a big league regular and could be a major part of the Royals rotation in 2024. With Zack Greinke's career up in the air, there is a likely spot for Lynch in the rotation if he can remain healthy.

The Royals finished with the second-worst record in baseball last season, so there probably aren't many sure things anyways, even regardless of Greinke's future.

While Lynch is pitching in the AFL, Game 1 of the World Series will be going on as well.

First pitch between the Rangers and Diamondbacks is 8:03 p.m. ET.
