Kansas City Royals to Skip Right-Hander's Next Start as He Battles Arm Fatigue

In this story:
As the Kansas City Royals limp to the finish line of a dreadful season in 2023, they are looking to take care of one of their young cornerstone pitchers.
The team will skip the next turn through the rotation for right-hander Brady Singer, according to reports.
Per Anne Rogers of MLB.com:
With a velo drop and some arm fatigue, the #Royals are planning on skipping Brady Singer’s next start so he won’t pitch until next week. Scans have all came back clear.
Singer: “Late in the year fatigue, we thought it was smart to skip one. And then get back to it next time.”

After a breakout year in 2022 that saw him go 10-5 with a 3.23 ERA, it's been a disappointing follow-up for the former first-round draft pick. In 143.1 innings, Singer has gone 8-10 while posting a 5.15 ERA.
He's struck out 125 those 143.1 innings after fanning a batter per inning nearly in 2022.
Singer gave up nine hits and four earned runs over 4.0 innings in his most recent start, a loss on Friday night against the Seattle Mariners. He struggled prior to that as well, lasting just 3.2 innings against the Chicago Cubs.
The Royals enter play on Monday at 41-91 and in last place in the American League Central. They will start a new series with the Pittsburgh Pirates at Kauffman Stadium on Monday.
First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET as Johan Oviedo (PIT) pitches against Zack Greinke (KC).
Oviedo is 7-13 while Greinke is 1-12.
